A Less Than Normal Divorce Announcement

Putin and his wife Lyudmila announced their divorce on public Russian state television while attending a ballet performance in 2013. They noted that it was a mutual decision and that they barely even see each other anymore, and that “each of us has our own life.” Putin and Lyudmila were married in 1983, but Putin’s amount of work and Lyudmila’s distaste for being in the public eye began to cause a rift. Although the two are still close and note that they always will be, they agreed it would just be better for the two of them to be separated.
