Over 50 Years After JFK’s Assassination, Conspiracy Theories Still Carry Weight
In the mid to late 1940’s John F. Kennedy’s life met a turning point, and he was thrust into a political career that is one of the most memorable in our nation’s history. But just as quickly as he rose to power, JFK’s life was taken from him and the U.S. lost its 35th President. More than 50 years later, the motive, gunman, and possible cover-up of his assassination remain in question as the American people demand answers. With the release of the remaining JFK Files in late 2017, we might be on track to knowing the truth.
JFK Assassinated, Oswald Arrested
On November 2, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. As his motorcade cruised through Dealey Plaza, JFK was hit by two bullets: One in the neck, and one in the head. The shooter was found to be Lee Harvey Oswald, a former U.S. Marine who was arrested after he assassinated a police officer near the site of JFK’s shooting 45 minutes later.
Earlier that year Oswald had attempted to shoot U.S. Major General Edwin Walker and was temporarily placed in a mental institution. He would never stand trial for JFK’s death, as Oswald was fatally shot two days after the assassination as he was being transferred from the city jail to the county jail. Most can agree that Oswald was the shooter responsible for JFK’s death. But his widow, along with the notebook found in his apartment, reveals a plot twist that has been largely overlooked.
