Unless you’ve lost someone and thought never to retrieve that part of yourself, it’s difficult to say if you’d understand what it must have been like when Ann and Elizabeth finally met in 2014. They’d been raised apart, led different lives, and had only been brought together by the efforts of Samantha. The two called and talked via Skype, but that’s not the same as a hug, and seeing one another face-to-face.

As Ann said, “I realized, I’ve got a sibling, a sister. It’s so wonderful, I’m not on my own anymore. I’ve got no words to say. I’m so happy – I have Elizabeth.”
