Now that so much time has passed, and Alice is long gone, there were lots of questions that her daughters would have no doubt liked to have asked. Some stories are only approached after the main parties are gone, though.

After Alice passed away in 1980, she heard conflicting reports about her father. On the one hand, her cousins told her that her father had discovered that Alice was pregnant and had completely rejected her. But, there was also a story that he wanted the twins, but that the message didn’t get to Alice until it was too late. Whatever the true story, it could just as well be both. So many years have already passed, and the past is just that.
