Nutso-Sounding Government Conspiracy Theories That Turned Out To Be TRUE!

We usually think conspiracy theories can’t be true, because they conjure images of people in tinfoil hats hiding from the government. Yet conspiracy theories have been around for a good reason — because many of them have turned out to be true. You will be surprised at which conspiracy theories actually turned out to be true and what governments around the world have done to their own citizens.

The Mafia

The Mafia was not commonly known about in America until the 1960s. Before that, it was just a conspiracy theory. Joe Valachi, a member of the Mafia, revealed the crime syndicate and its link to law enforcement. He reported that they worked with businesses, politicians, and the CIA.

The Dreyfus Affair

The Dreyfus Affair happened in France during the late 1800s. Alfred Dreyfus was an artillery officer who was wrongly convicted of treason because of false government documents. He was sentenced to life in prison. The government of France tried to cover this up, but Dreyfus was pardoned and the affair was made public.

MK-ULTRA

The MK-ULTRA happened during the 1950s and 1960s. The government gave test subjects LSD and other drugs because they were trying to find a “truth serum.” Many of the people who were given drugs did not give consent and some died because of the experiments. An investigation by the Rockefeller Commission revealed these experiments.

Manhattan Project

The codename for developing the atomic bomb was “The Manhattan Project.” This research was led by the U.S., but the U.K. and Canada were involved as well. Citizens had no idea what was going on for over 25 years, even though entire towns were being built as the project employed 130,000 people.

Watergate

Asbestos

The manufacturers of asbestos tried to suppress the fact that their product was linked to respiratory diseases. This happened between the years 1930 and 1960. It took epidemiologists until 1962 to establish that the heads of the company did in fact know that asbestos caused cancer, but used it anyway.

Operation Northwoods

Operation Northwoods took place in the early 1960s. The purpose of the operation was to create public support for the war against Cuba and to put Fidel Castro out of power. Some of the plans included terrorism acts in various U.S. cities, which would kill innocent U.S. soldiers and people. The plan was approved but eventually denied by civilian leadership. It was kept under wraps for 40 years.

The Tuskegee Syphillis Study

From 1932 to 1972, the U.S. Public Health Service conducted a clinical study on poor African-American men who had syphilis. The men were given dangerous and false treatments so the Health Service could learn more about the disease. While it was only supposed to last six months, it went on for 40 years. About 200 men died from syphilis or complications from the study.

Counter Intelligence Programs Against Activists

COINTELPRO, as it was named, was a series of projects done by the FBI. The goal of the projects was to investigate and disrupt political organizations in the U.S. The FBI said it was to “protect national security.” This took place between 1956 and 1971 and targeted groups like the women’s rights movement, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and even Martin Luther King Jr.

1990 Testimony of Nayirah

Nayirah was a 15-year-old girl who testified before Congress about what she had seen in Iraq. She reportedly testified she saw Iraqi soldiers taking Kuwaiti babies out of incubators so that they died. Her testimony improved public support for the Gulf War. The testimony ended up being false. The CIA had coached her, and she was the niece of a Kuwaiti politician.

Gulf of Tonkin

The Gulf of Tonkin supposedly happened on August 2, 1964. In it, two American destroyers fought three North Vietnamese torpedo boats. This was the reason for escalating the Vietnam War. The Internal Security Agency study was declassified in 2005 and said there were no North Vietnamese vessels that night. A historian reported that the NSA fudge intelligence documents to cover up errors, not for political reasons.

CIA Drug Running

Journalist Gary Webb, an LAPD Narcotics Officer, Michael Ruppert, CIA officials, and many others exposed this plot. They wrote a 20,000 word series on how Nicaraguan drug traffickers distributed and sold crack cocaine in L.A. during the 1980s. The drug profits were used to fund the CIA. It was “the most talked-about piece of journalism in 1996.”

Conspiracy to Assassinate Hitler

One of the largest conspiracies to assassinate Hitler was on July 20, 1944. It involved many of people in Hitler’s inner circle and was called Operation Valkyrie. Operation Snow White

Operation Ajax

Iran nationalized the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company in 1951, and Mohammed Mossadegh was elected as the Prime Minister. The West saw him nationalizing oil fields as a communist move, even though Mossadegh was pro-American. The U.S. sent Kermit Roosevelt, the CIA coordinator and FDR’s nephew, to sort everything out. He confronted Mossedegh and had him overthrown. The U.S. had Shah of Iran put back in power, who was a brutal dictator. An anti-American revolution occurred in the country and U.S. embassy workers were taken hostage. Americans were told this was because of radical Islam.

Operation Ajax

The New World Order

The New World Order conspiracy is a theory that a small number of people control the international government through international banking. There is a Bilderberg group made up of the world’s elite that does meet every year. David Rockefeller wrote in his memoir about people “characterizing my family and me as ‘internationalists’ and of conspiring with others around the world to build a more integrated global political and economic structure – one world, if you will. If that’s the charge, I stand guilty, and I am proud of it.”

Karen Silkwood

As a chemical technician in Crescent, Oklahoma, Karen Silkwood was tasked with making plutonium pellets for nuclear reactor fuel rods. She became part of the bargaining committee in the Oil, Chemical, & Atomic Workers Union. She found many violations of health regulations. Karen performed a self-check on herself in 1974 and found 400 times the limit for plutonium contamination. There were remnants of plutonium on the outside of the gloves she had been using, indicating that someone was trying to poison her. She later died in a car accident and her car contained no documents.

Bohemian Grove

The Bohemian Grove is where the rich and powerful people meet every year in the woods. While here in this secluded place, they worship a giant stone owl. No one believed this crazy story for a while until NBC, CBS, ABC, and other news agencies investigated this claim and found it out to be true. Those who are directly involved said it is fraternity-style stuff, just fun and games.

CIA Drug Smuggling

Police officers murdered two teenage boys in rural Little Rock in the year 1987 because the boys witnessed a drug drop. This drop was part of a smuggling operation based out of the airport in Mena, Arkansas. The operation was set up by Barry Seal, a drug smuggler. He testified he worked for the DEA and CIA. A plane that was given to Seal by the CIA was shot down over Nicaragua with lots of weapons. Those who tried to expose the crimes were destroyed and the people who were involved in drug smuggling received protection from authorities.

The Round Table

Cecil Rhodes wrote about the British Empire re-annexing the U.S. and starting and “Imperial Federation” for a superpower to bring world peace in 1877. In 1902, the Rhodes Scholarship was established to bring peace through uniting American, British and German leaders. From diplomats and scholars, the Round Table grew to New York financiers, lawyers, and manufacturers. It now has 3,000 members and says that they discuss U.S. foreign policy planning.

Operation Paperclip

Operation Paperclip was the name for the Office of Strategic Services and Joint Intelligence Objective Agency to recruit German scientists from Nazi Germany to the United States after VE Day. President Truman authorized this operation in 1945. Everyone who they recruited had their employment histories falsified and Nazi affiliations taken off their record.

Operation Paperclip

The Trilateral Commission

The Trilaterial Commission is designed to provide cooperation between Japan, Europe, and the United States. David Rockefeller founded it in 1973 in New York. In one of their documents, it says “The overriding goal is to make the world safe for interdependence…This may sometimes require slowing the pace at which interdependence proceeds, and checking some aspects of it. More frequently however, it will call for checking the intrusion of national government into the international exchange of both economic and non-economic goods.”

The Trilateral Commission

The Illuminati

The Order of the Illuminati was supposedly formed in 1776 in Upper Bavaria. Those in the Illuminati consisted of pro-feminists, republicans, liberals, secularists, and freethinkers. They were supposedly broken up in 1785, but survived and became masterminds behind the French Revolution. It was again supposedly disbanded in 1848. Yet, the Rothschild dynasty is part of a secret order in Bavaria and has taken over many of Europe’s central banks. The Dynasty owns about half of the world’s wealth.

Big Brother

Also called Shadow Government, this is a “government-in-waiting.” It means a “secret government” of private citizens waits to take control of the government after a large-scale event, such as 9/11. The idea is also called The Continuity of Government and allows the government to define procedures so they can continue their operations in case of war or other catastrophic events.

Big Brother

The Federal Reserve Bank

The purpose of a bank like the Federal Reserve is to provide economic stability. Basically, the value of currency is manipulated to allow financial booms to increase and crashes to be milder. From 1920 to 1929, economic growth increased while monetary supply expanded. The stock market crashed and the Federal Reserve cut money supply.

Government Spying on Citizen

Before it was revealed the NSA was actually listening to your phone calls, the idea of the government spying on its citizens seemed more like something out of a novel. It came out that the NSA has been illegally eavesdropping and collecting information on many people and storing that data. About 90% of the data collected from the surveillance is from people who do not have any connection with terrorist activities.

Hillsborough

While watching the FA Cup semi-finals in 1989, a total of 96 Liverpool fans were crushed to death and hundreds were injured at Hillsborough stadium. There has been an inquiry into what happened, and while it is ongoing, there is information coming out of a cover-up. This shows that the 96 victims were not at fault, like the judge first claimed. The real reason for the disaster was a lack of police control.

Hillsborough

Prohibition

The United States government poisoned alcohol during the Prohibition. Why would they do this? To keep the ban on alcohol in force. About 700 people died from this poisoning and countless others got sick from it. Some of the poisons included brucine, kerosene, iodine, zinc, formaldehyde, gasoline, chloroform, acetone, and other harmful ingredients.

North Korea Kidnaps Japanese Citizens

There was a conspiracy that Japanese citizens were being kidnapped by North Korea. No one believed it until 2002, when Kim Jong-il admitted to this. A total of 17 people were abducted between 1977 and 1983, which were all later confirmed. There could be many more. One theory is that the people who were kidnapped taught Japanese in spy school. After they were done teaching, they were most likely killed.

False Flag Operations

False Flag Operations are the concept of governments attacks themselves, such as through terrorist attacks. British double agents fire-bombed a fire station during WWII to protect their cover. In 1978 in West Germany, the Celle prison was breached by secret services and blamed on the left-wing Red Army Faction.

False Flag Operations

Operation Fast and Furious

The Obama administration smuggled weapons and guns to Mexican drug dealers. The purpose was to trace them back to the criminals and take down drug gangs in 2011. CBS broke the news and had documentation that ATF agents knew that these weapons were passed from the U.S. Besides tracing the guns, this would also be used to try justifying strict gun laws.

Martin Luther King Jr.’s Assassination

On April 4, 1968 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee. While James Earl Ray assassinated him, the government played a part in it. There was a lawsuit filed on December 8, 1999 by King’s family against the government. A jury agreed that his death was the result of the U.S. government working with the mafia and that Ray was an assassin.
