In St. Petersburg, Florida in 1951, a woman named Mary Reeser allegedly died of spontaneous combustion. Reeser’s landlord stopped in to deliver a telegram to the woman, who lived alone, and found only a pile of ashes. One foot and part of a skull also remained, but there was very little fire or heat damage to the surrounding home.
