Albinism Needs Representation: Shaun Ross

A small portion of the population is born with albinism, which removes pigment from the skin and hair. Historically, individuals with albinism have been shunned by society. But people like Shaun Ross are changing that. Ross, along with the brands who’ve hired him for modeling, brings to light the striking beauty of albinism. Before modeling, Ross was a dancer and appeared on The Tyra Banks Show, which launched his career. He has since walked for major brands, including Givenchy. Ross even appeared in a Beyoncé video, “Pretty Hurts” and has begun recording music.
