After Paris, New York City beckoned to Diop. She became involved with The Colored Girl Project (a campaign to celebrate black beauty) and her career really took off. She prides herself on never having succumbed to the pressure to bleach her skin the way many encouraged her to do in the early days. She has spoken out against skin bleaching and fills her Instagram with inspirational posts of self-love and acceptance.
