In England in 2001, Cliff Bradshaw was out searching with a metal detector. Interestingly, Cliff had agreed with the owner to search the fields but was not trying to find anything in particular. Cliff ended up finding something called the Ringlemere Cup. The ancient cup came from between 1700 BC and 1500 BC. It had become weathered with quite a bit of damage over the years but was still decipherable. There have only been around seven other similar gold cups from the same time period. Later, the cup was purchased from Cliff Bradshaw and the Smith family by The British Museum for $520,000.
