These Military Wives Underwent Shocking Transformations
Lori’s Self-Esteem Plummets
Lori believes that her teeth are the direct cause of her low self-esteem. This is a very common insecurity. In fact, it’s reported to be the second most common insecurity next to weight, but Lori’s case was so severe that it wasn’t easily hidden. She didn’t just have crooked or yellow teeth. Part of her mouth was missing.
In 2014, she told the hosts of the talk show The Doctors that losing her teeth ruined her life. “Losing my teeth changed everything,” Lori said. “People look at you differently. They automatically assume that you’re uneducated. I’ve heard people in the background say that I’m a meth addict, and I don’t do drugs.”
Lori’s Health Deteriorates
Lori’s problems aren’t purely cosmetic. Periodontal disease caused a heap of health problems. Couple this with the fact that Lori’s husband was frequently stationed away and unable to help. She was caring for three young children while her health was in shambles.
The pain in Lori’s mouth was so severe that she could only eat soft foods like soup and mashed potatoes. This diet caused a nutritional deficiency that weakened Lori’s immune system and caused her to lose lost 30 pounds. She was also highly susceptible to illness. A simple cold would take months to clear up.
