The teen drama about the lives of a close-knit group of friends made its debut on January 20. The series starred James Van Der Beek as Dawson Leery, Katie Holmes as Joey Potter, Joshua Jackson as Pacey Witter and Michelle Williams as Jen Lindley.

Thanks to the new craze for teen-themed movies and television shows in the late nineties, the stars of the show found success in their careers and it became a defining show for The WB. The series ended in 2003, but it made a major impact on teenagers at the time.

One of the most successful television series with gay principal characters made its return to TV after it ended on May 18, 2006.
