A year after Jack and Rose stole the hearts of moviegoers, Steven Speilberg delivered another fantastic film. Saving Private Ryan was the war film that took place during the invasion of Normandy in World War II. The film was notable for the intensity of its opening 30 minutes.

Speilberg’s powerful and realistic creation of WWII’s D-Day invasion and the immediate aftermath became one of the most talked about moves in 1998. The film was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and Speilberg won his second Academy Award for Best Director.
