The Tragic Case Of Caylee Anthony’s Murder
Casey’s Mental State Questioned
While it would seem obvious to any outsider examining the case that Casey’s behavior certainly seemed as though something was wrong with her mental health, that had not yet been presented by either side. However, that soon changed and the defense seemed to begin to use that idea.
About her mental health…
The trial was halted temporarily by the judge on June 25, 2011, when Casey’s defense attorneys filed a motion with the court to determine if their client was competent to proceed with the trial. According to the motion, the defense received a privileged communication from their client. The alleged communication led them to believe “…Ms. Anthony is not competent to aid and assist in her own defense”. Following this motion, Casey underwent psychological evaluations. On June 27, Anthony was found competent to continue with the trial. And then more details about her father’s involvement came to light.
