The Tragic Case Of Caylee Anthony’s Murder
Were the Crime Scene Photos Staged?
The defense also managed to find their own experts who testified in contrary to what was presented by the prosecution. Forensic pathologist Dr. Werner Spitz testified on behalf of the defense, called the original autopsy “shoddy,” and criticized the medical examiner for not examining Caylee’s entire body, including her skull.
What else he said…
He did a follow-up autopsy and said he was not comfortable ruling her death a homicide, saying there was no indication she was murdered. He believed duct tape was placed on the skull after the body decomposed. He also suggested some of the crime scene photos had been staged. He revealed during cross-examination: “It wouldn’t be the first time, sir. I can tell you some horror stories about that.” The prosecution, of course, presented the contrary defense, but it was certainly a venture that caused the jury to have confusion about the situation.
