Now the question had to be asked, did the two girls murder the parents and run away? But leaving the car and money behind just didn’t fit that assumption. The girls had a good life and one was in a long term relationship so everyone figured it had to be a kidnapping.

We lightly eliminated the possibility that the girls did all of this because of them leaving the car and the purse with the money. The whole town thought it was a kidnapping and honestly, that is the only option that makes sense at this point. Why would these two girls summon the audacity to do something terrible like this in the first place? On the surface, there isn’t anything to gain from this except one of the girls being free from their parents.
