Elizabeth’s Mother Was Indicted for Child Abuse

Unfortunately for Elizabeth and the rest of the Thomas family, this isn’t the only traumatic even that she has endured. More than a year before Elizabeth was abducted, her mother Kimberly Thomas was indicted on horrifying child abuse charges. Kimberly Thomas purportedly abused five of her 10 children, including Elizabeth.

Kimberly was indicted on four counts of misdemeanor child abuse and neglect and one felony count of abuse of a child under the age of eight. For a girl entering into her teenage years, this was certainly a nightmarish situation to deal with. Apparently, her mother’s abuse began in 2014 and continued for about one year. In that time, Kimberly and her husband Anthony separated. He took sole custody of the kids, and Kimberly was banned from having any contact with her children.
