People Who Survived What Should Have Been Instant Death
Pocket Of Air
Harrison Okene was in the bathroom the moment his tugboat capsized and rapidly sunk off the coast of Nigeria in 2013. The Nigerian chef was trapped underwater, but he remarkably survived for three days by crouching in a pocket of air. He even stacked up mattresses to escape the rising water.
When rescue divers arrived to pull bodies from the boat wreckage, they were scared when a hand reached out for help. The hand, which was captured on video by a diver’s head camera, turned out to be Okene’s hand.
