Aron Ralston detailed his nightmare when a heavy boulder fell on his arm, pinning it to the canyon wall in 2003. After five days, his food and water were all gone and he had to resort to something very drastic. It was very unlikely for anyone to find him so he made a big sacrifice.
Ralston amputated his arm by sawing it with a blunt pocket knife. Then, he rappelled down the 65-foot wall, where he was found by hikers on the way to his car. The incident was made into a movie when James Franco portrayed Ralston in 127 Hours.
Despite amputating his arm, one surfer had to face a life-or-death situation much like Jaws. Details behind that are still on the way.
