The flight that crashed into the Andes Mountains in October 1972 became somewhat of a horror movie. The plane carried the Uruguayan Stella Marris College rugby team which resulted in the death of 12 people out of the 45 people on board. Five more passed away due to injuries, then eight more in an avalanche.

The story was immortalized on the big screen known as Alive. The movie chronicled the lives of the 16 survivors who struggled through extreme cold conditions, which led to them turning to cannibalism. They were rescued from their 72-day nightmare when Nando Parrado Robert Canessa hiked for days and sought help.
