Inspiring TED Talks To Listen To If You’re Having A Bad Day

“The Surprising Science of Happiness” by Dan Gilbert

Happiness isn’t easy to achieve, and it’s even more difficult to kick start yourself into feeling better when you’ve been having a horrible day. What if we told you that it was actually simpler than you thought? Did you know you can actually synthesize the feeling?

Happiness is a matter of making lemonade out of lemons, and Dan Gilbert, a psychologist and self-proclaimed “human happiness expert” uses his TED Talk to show us how to create happiness by changing our thought process. He uses a story of a man who spent 37 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit to prove his point. The entire thing is really interesting, and the takeaway is a fantastic lesson for everyone who ever had trouble thinking positively.

“How to Make Stress Your Friend” by Kelly McGonigal

You may be one second away from ripping out your hair because you’re going to miss a deadline, can’t figure out how to pay your bills, or simply find yourself unable to figure out how to advance in your career. What you don’t realize is this awful, itchy feeling of being rammed down with anxiety and emotional pain can actually be really helpful.
