In the 1920s, Holmesburg prison was considered to be one of the deadliest places in America. It was well known for its barbaric conditions and prisoner experimentation. Yes, you heard me. The company Johnson and Johnson started testing out creams and cutting off the skin of prisoners for testing.

The CIA also used the prisoners in the jail for psychotropic drug testing and advance interrogation technique testing. In the late 30s, it was found out that prison guards were putting prisoners in small rooms with radiators and turning up the heat. Many prisoners died because of this.
