Resurrected in the 1930s by the French, Tadmor Prison in Syria was able to keep a fairly low profile until the Assad Regime took over. Tadmor became the dumping ground for many of the political prisoners in the 1980s and the death totals are staggering.
Somewhere between 500-1000 people would die each day at the prison through execution or lack of medical attention. Guards were quoted as telling the prisoners to only contact them if it’s to collect dead bodies. Although the prison was closed in 2001, it made news again in 2015 when ISIS took over the building and demolished it.
Seasickness was the least of your worries if you were imprisoned on this ship coming up.
