This is exactly what it sounds like: a temple crawling with thousands of “holy” rats. Shoes are not allowed in the temple, and it’s considered very auspicious for a rat (which are frequently diseased) to run over your feet.

The image shows an insane amount of rats next to that young child. If the rats wanted to, they could be able to overthrow that child and start feasting on him. Luckily, this is a “holy” place so the rats should have manners. In any other environment, a rat running over your foot might mean you need to evacuate the area.
