John Harvard has a bronze shoe. The shoe is eye-level to most people so it is just human nature to want to come up to it and just rub it or touch it. Some people believe it is a Harvard tradition and others do it for good luck. Now here comes the kicker. At night, students urinate on the statue as a sort of rebellious act.

If visitors knew that this was happening then maybe they wouldn’t be so eager to approach it and rub it at all. Getting a picture would be fine but all that rubbing has to be stopped. Also, they need to catch the students who are using the restroom on this statue as well!
