Murder of Elizabeth Short – The Black Dahlia
Elizabeth Short probably acquired the nickname “Black Dahlia” from the name of a murder mystery called “The Blue Dahlia,” which came out in 1946. Short’s body was found on January fifteenth, 1947, literally cut in half, lying in a vacant lot in Los Angeles. Witnesses reported they initially thought the body was a mannequin.
