A Wing And A Prayer: Planes That Almost Crashed
Amelia Earhart: Safe After Crash Landing?
This is one of the biggest mysteries in aviation history. Most people assume that legendary pilot Amelia Earhart perished when her plane vanished somewhere over the pacific in 1937. She was never heard from again. However, in 2017 a photo was discovered deep within the National Archives. This particular photo is of great importance because it appears to show the missing aviator and seems to be taken post-crash landing. The woman in the photo, in the red circle, closely resembles Earhart and the man standing next to her shares a close physical resemblance to her navigator, Fred Noonan. This still doesn’t tell us what happened after the photo was taken, but does lead us to believe that Earhart and Noonan survived their plane crash landing. However, in March 2018, researchers announced that bones found on an island in 1940 were “99% likely” to be Earhart’s.
