Erin Hamlin competed in luge at the Olympics and carried the American Flag during the opening ceremony. She did not attend the White House visit. Instead, Hamlin chose to show her patriotism by visiting the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center.

Her visit to the hospital happened on the morning of the White House visit. Hamlin gave no reason for preference to go the hospital. It might be that she’s done it already. The 2018 Winter Olympics were Hamlin’s fourth.
