These Championship-Winning Athletes Declined Their Invitations To The White House And They Have Their Reasons

When the Minnesota Lynx became WNBA Champions, their White House invitation must have been lost in the mail. Or, as head coach Cheryl Reeve put it, “It’s hard not to think that gender is playing a role here because of the consistency with which men’s teams are being invited and celebrated.”

Reeve backed up her statement on Twitter, posting four facts about the White House trips during Trump’s Presidency. She pointed out that the last two WNBA Champions didn’t receive invites, while sports involving men, from college to the pros, have all been invited.
