The Cyborg’s Scandal

Before Ronda Rousey came onto the scene, Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino (formerly Santos) dominated the division. Justino made her MMA debut in the United states in 2008, and developed a reputation for winning fights through ferocity and aggression.

It turns out, she may have had a little more aggression than normal thanks to some controlled substances. In 2012, it was announced she tested positive for stanozolol, an anabolic steroid. As a result, her last fight’s result was changed to a no contest, and she had her license suspended for one year. She was also fined $2,500. After her suspension was up, she continued to fight.
