Roberto Clemente’s Plane Crashed When Flying To Nicaragua

When Nicaragua was hit by an Earthquake, Roberto Clemente felt compelled to act on it. So, he arranged to go there himself to provide relief for the people.

However, the plane never landed as it crashed on New Year’s Eve in 1972. Today, MLB awards the Roberto Clemente Award for a players contributions on-and-off the baseball field.
