Marriage And Incest Are Forced On Child Brides

Child marriage is extremely common in the FLDS church, and part of that is because of the way women are regarded. Women are taught that they must love their husbands or they won’t get into Heaven, and they’re sometimes forced to marry their own relatives. Elissa Wall, who wrote a book about her escape from the FLDS church, alleged that Jeffs forced her to marry her first cousin.

“Men were in charge of us,” she said. “They were the only way we were going to get to Heaven. We had to love them no matter what…We had to share them with other women..We had to submit.”
