In January 2018, Princess Eugenie announced that she and long-term beau Jack Brooksbank were now engaged. The two had been together for seven years. They will be married in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in October 2018. News of the engagement stirred up some serious controversy among some.

Many royal-watchers believe that Harry and Meghan’s “rushed” engagement was designed to one-up Eugenie and Jack. Prince Harry and Prince Andrew have reportedly been feuding for decades, and some saw Harry’s engagement and wedding as a direct slap in the face to Eugenie and her family. One source told Woman’s Day that Eugenie and her older sister Beatrice “didn’t like Kate because they saw her as common, but that’s nothing compared to how horrified they are at Harry marrying an American actress!”
