Putin is fond of taking the road less traveled and is always utilizing his position of power to find himself in experiences that the common man probably won’t ever be able to do. On August 18, 2015, Putin took a ride in a mini-sub in order to explore the ruins of a 10th-century Byzantine trading ship. He did this casually when he was visiting Crimea, which was annexed by Russia the year prior. This wasn’t his first rodeo either, as, in 2013, he dove in a submersible in the Gulf of Finland in order to explore the remains of a naval frigate shipwreck beneath the water.
