In 2008, Putin was surveying the Ussuri nature reserve in Eastern Russia while raising awareness for the endangerment of the Siberian tiger. Supposedly, during the excursion, a Siberian tiger charged Putin and the camera crew in which Putin calmly and bravely sedated the cat with a tranquilizer dart. Although this all seems very heroic and Putin-esque, the actual story of this situation has been taken with a grain of salt by some. However, the fact that this is still a circulating story true or not is a testament to the image that Putin has created for himself.
