Times Activists Made Their Voices Heard in 2016
Anti-Trump Protests
Not everyone was thrilled at the news that Donald Trump was named the President-Elect. During the first week that followed the election, anti-Trump rallies were held in cities across the United States. Demonstrators took to the streets of Portland, Oregon, New York, San Diego and Chicago, among other cities.
Some of the protests turned violent, as anti-Trump protesters were punched and kicked by pro-Trump groups, and many were arrested, including 35 in San Diego alone. There were many incidents over 2016 that involved anti-Trump and pro-Trump protesters clashing and turning violent. Clashes included the cities of San Jose, California and Richmond, Virginia.
