Times Activists Made Their Voices Heard in 2016
Dakota Access Pipeline
One of the protests that have garnered the attention and hearts of Americans is the Dakota Access Pipeline. Activists have organized at Standing Rock Indian Reservation in North Dakota in an attempt to stop the Dakota Access, LLC, from continuing construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline Route, which stretches 1,172 miles long from Stanley, North Dakota to Patoka, Illinois.
The project has been under heavy criticism for its potential impact on the environment and taking over land for eminent domain. The heaviest protests have been at Standing Rock, where Native Americans and thousands of people have come together to oppose the pipeline construction to protect their sacred land and water source.
