Times Activists Made Their Voices Heard in 2016

Fight for $15

Activists who joined in the “Fight for $15” movement protested in 340 cities and 20 airports on November 29th, aiming to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 per hour. They called this day, ­­”The National Day of Disruption” which included workers at airports, child care, drivers, and fast food establishments, many of whom walked off the job and joined a march in protest.

Organizers say their protests “will underscore that any efforts to block wage increases, gut workers’ rights or health care, deport immigrants or support racism or racist policies will be met with unrelenting opposition by workers in the Fight for $15.” The activists had some success, raising wages for 22 million workers, according to their accounting
