After becoming a model, ditching her husband, and changing her name to Marilyn, she soon skyrocketed into stardom. After being a pin-up model for a short time, Monroe ventured into acting and became even more popular with films such as As Young as You Feel, Monkey Business, Clash by Night, and Don’t Bother to Knock. Monroe’s success led her to be an iconic sex symbol of the ’50s and even the ’60s. But towards the end of her life, she would struggle with drug abuse, in addition to depression and anxiety. She died at the young age of 36 due to an overdose in 1962.
