Marilyn Monroe’s Unknown Past

alteredhistory-38.jpg

Before she was Marilyn Monroe, she was Norma Jeane Mortenson-Baker, the daughter of a Midwestern migrant to California. Norma’s mother was unfit to raise another baby and soon after she was born she was sent to live with foster parents. Norma lived a happy childhood and was able to see her birth mother, who eventually took Norma with her back to Hollywood, but soon was sent back into foster care after her mother was institutionalized. After a series of bad experiences in foster care, Norma married at the age of 16. She took up work at a munitions factory where she was discovered by a photographer.
