The Monk And The Punk

People were mesmerized by the contrast of this photo when it went viral on the Internet. The photo shows two young boys in Burma, one dressed in traditional monk garb while the other sports punk-rocker-esque clothing style that has made its way to South East Asia. The photo was taken by photographer Roger Stonehouse, who spotted these two brothers in a Burmese marketplace on their way to the Ananda Festival saying, “the quiet rural area around the Ananda Temple is transformed into a city of stalls. During this busy time, people of all walks of life are drawn to the buzz of the festival scene.”
