His Downward Spiral Into Anonymity
Nicols is the man in the top left corner of this photo. Although he enjoyed his stint as a Beatle, it soon came to an end after Ringo Starr recovered and rejoined the group in Melbourne. Nicols was then sent home, but not before he was given a gold watch as a token of gratitude from the Beatles and their manager, Brian Epstein. Unfortunately, life after Beatlemania started to spiral for Nicols. He found little success with bands he tried to start on his own, which caused him to go bankrupt. As a result, his wife divorced him and he became estranged from his son.
