Jimmie Nicol: The Forgotten Beatle

alteredhistory-28.jpg

The Beatles were just emerging as rock gods in 1964, when their main drummer Ringo Starr was taken extremely ill. Their back up drummer Jimmie Nicol was set to replace him, but only for the shows which Ringo was missing. Nicol enjoyed the Beatlemania as a Beatle for only 13 days, performing as the drummer for eight shows. Nicols recalled, “The day before I was a Beatle, not one girl would even look me over… The day after, when I was suited up and riding in the back of a limo with John Lennon and Paul McCartney, they were dying just to get a touch of me.”
