Jimi Hendrix Headlined Woodstock—A Day Late

alteredhistory-26.jpg

This photo of Jimi Hendrix was captured by photographer Henry Diltz at the Woodstock Music and Arts Festival in upstate New York back in August of 1969. Hendrix was headlining the festival, meaning he was to be the final act, but due to rain delays, Hendrix didn’t even make it on stage until 8:30 A.M. the following Monday Morning. Hendrix was one of many iconic musicians of the era to perform at Woodstock, which people attended in droves to see their favorite musicians play. But as many would come to find out upon arrival, it was much less about enjoying the music than it was a spectacle.
