The Most Desperate Time In America

The Great Depression in the 1930s certainly had an immense impact on the financial stability of not only the nation but the individual families within the nation as well. Many American families soon found themselves in an irreversible state of disrepair as men were no longer able to easily provide for their families. This caused many children to suffer from malnutrition and lack of sufficient clothing. Unemployed men who were once the breadwinners of their families started to withdraw from their families and friends, even turning to alcohol as a response. Because men were now home during the day, more fights erupted between husbands and wives, but divorce rates were down due to lack of funds for a lawyer. Some children saw their fathers walk out on their families forever.
