Bernie Sanders Was Arrested At One Point

This photo was taken in South Side Chicago back in 1963. Notice the man trying to resist arrest. Look familiar? The man in question is actually none other than U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, back when he was working towards his Political Science degree at the University of Chicago. Sanders was arrested during a civil rights protests of segregation in the Chicago public school system. The photo emerged during his campaign for candidacy in the 2016 Presidential Election and emphasized Sanders’ platform of civil rights activism on which he ran at the time. It goes to show that Sanders is one politician who has put themselves in the middle of the country’s action to fight for what he believed in.
