Conspiracy theories were flying around and the majority of the public didn’t trust what the Warren Commission concluded about JFK’s assassination. In fact, when Gallup News polled Americans in 1976 they found that 81% of the population believed that more than one person had been involved in JFK’s assassination.

That same year, Congress decided to form their own committee to run a separate investigation into the assassination of the President. While their intention was to get to the bottom of it, this only made the findings of the Warren Commissions more questionable. And when Congress announced their shocking findings, it only spurred more conspiracies.
