Over 50 Years After JFK’s Assassination, Conspiracy Theories Still Carry Weight
JFK Decorated While Serving In The Military
Although his medical history caused him problems while entering the U.S. military, JFK served in the U.S. Navy Reserve from 1941-1945. He was a commander of a torpedo boat in the Pacific and was awarded a Purple Heart Medal and Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroism after his brave actions during an attack by a Japanese destroyer. JFK holds other medals, including a World War II Victory Medal and three 3/16 bronze stars. In 1946, JFK would become one of 70 members of the U.S. House and Senate who served in WW II.
Meanwhile, the focus of passing the political torch was on his older brother Joseph Jr. But that would soon change.
