The overtime rules were very different as well. Both teams would take turns starting from the 2-yard line and they’d have four chances (they’d have no downs) to get a touchdown. One Saturday night they halted a heavily hyped SNL episode because of the no-tie games allowed rule. They eventually made a rule that said the game will end if it goes into SNL time.
