Why The XFL Was Actually Years Ahead Of Its Time

Oh boy, Vince McMahon has announced that he’s going to be bringing back the XFL in 2020. After his first failed attempt in 2000, he said he is ready to learn from that experience and do it right this time.

The NFL has seen a decrease in the ratings for the past few years and McMahon sees this as an opportunity to grab some of the old viewers of the NFL. The XFL has many different rule changes that differentiate it from the NFL, and honestly, it proves that even back in 2000, the league was living in the year 2033. Please allow me to show you why.

First of all, the XFL abolished the coin flip and replaced it with “The Scramble”, which involved one member from each team chasing after a ball 10 yards away. Whoever came up with the ball, their team would end up getting possession. The first scramble of the season resulted in a separated shoulder.
