Let’s be honest here, children’s minds are very moldable and easy to distract from the truth. Some lies we were told as a kid were harmless, like when your mom would tell you everything was chicken because you liked chicken or that Santa Claus was real. Harmless stuff.
New discoveries happen all the time and debunk theories and “facts” from the past. Theories like crossing your eyes for too long will make them stay permanently crossed, or the earth is only 4000 years old are easily debunkable. But for a while as kids if we were taught it at school we would believe it. Here are a few of the hilarious “facts” we were told as children that are no longer true.
Different Taste Zones
This false narrative that we have four different taste zones that identify what we’re eating is just wrong. No, we don’t have sweet, sour, salty, and bitter areas that tell us what we’re eating. The tongue identifies five different tastes and, for the most part, all of them are identified equally around the tongue.
